Force Master Chief Hosea Smith Passes Away After Battling Cancer, Community Mourns His Loss

On Monday, August 26, 2024, the Navy community was struck by the sad news of the passing of Hosea Smith, the Force Master Chief of the Hospital Corps. Smith passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer, leaving a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him.

Hosea Smith was a respected leader and warrior within the Navy. His death has deeply affected many, with several individuals taking to social media to express their condolences and share memories of the impact he had on their lives.

Rod Ruth, reflecting on his relationship with Smith, shared on Facebook, "The Hospital Corps lost a Great Leader and Warrior yesterday. It has taken a little time for me to process this notion. Hosea Smith was the first person to call me and congratulate me on making Master Chief. He will be missed, but I take comfort in knowing that he was met by Jesus and now sits at the Right Hand of Lord without that anymore pain physically, mentally, or spiritually!!! God Bless you Hosea Smith. Rest your oars Brother, we have the Watch!!!"

Other heartfelt tributes also poured in. Melissa Foster simply stated, "Beautiful!" while Raymond Moelder noted, "Thank you for sharing this. It’s refreshing to see something on Facebook with compassion and love in this season of hate."
