19-Year-Old Makayla Theriaque of Vernon Dies in Tragic Car Crash in Manchester’s Buckland Hills

Manchester, Connecticut – A tragic car accident on Sunday night claimed the life of Makayla Theriaque, a 19-year-old resident of Vernon. The crash occurred around 8:31 p.m. on Buckland Hills Drive, near the water tower in Manchester.

Emergency responders arrived to find Theriaque trapped inside her vehicle, which had crashed into a tree. She was quickly extricated and rushed to a local trauma center but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Theriaque, a 2022 graduate of Rockville High School and known as an honor student, was well-regarded in her community. The police reported that her vehicle was traveling westbound before it veered off the road and struck the tree, resulting in severe damage.

The accident led to the closure of Buckland Hills Drive between the Target entrance and No. 345 for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation. The news of Theriaque’s untimely death has led to an outpouring of grief and condolences on social media. Heaven Liberty wrote, “RIP beautiful Makayla Theriaque,” while Anthony Mazzarella commented, “People really gotta slow down over there, I’m very sorry for your loss.” Other messages of sympathy included Seth Rattet’s, “Im sorry for your loss. Prayers to family and friends,” and Jessi Veronica’s, “That’s so sad. Let the strength and light guide her family as they grieve.”

Further heartfelt tributes were shared by Jane Hansen, who remarked, “Dangerous driving kills. A few seconds of recklessness and one is gone,” and Rosa Cruz, who said, “I’m so heartbroken; she was so sweet to work with.”

The tragic loss of Makayla Theriaque has left a deep void in the hearts of her family, friends, and the Vernon community.
