Youngstown, Ohio – The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal shooting on Interstate 680 as 20-year-old Christian Moretti. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon around 4 p.m. when an unidentified assailant opened fire on Moretti’s SUV from a passing vehicle. His vehicle was struck multiple times before crashing into a concrete barrier near the Marshal Street entrance ramp. Despite the swift response from emergency services, Moretti succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The tragic incident has left Moretti’s family and the Youngstown community reeling. Police closed the road for over an hour as they meticulously examined the scene, searching for clues that could lead to the perpetrator. However, the investigation has yet to yield any significant developments, and the shooter remains at large. Last year, Youngstown recorded 22 homicides, and with this latest tragedy, the city appears to be on track to surpass that number.

The police are focusing on gathering witness statements and reviewing surveillance footage in hopes of identifying the shooter. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing that even small details could be crucial to the investigation.

As Moretti’s family and friends mourn his sudden and senseless death, the community has rallied around them, offering condolences and support during this difficult time. On Facebook, many have expressed their sorrow and outrage at the loss of such a young life.

Calvin Myers Sr. commented, "Funny y’all don’t got the same energy as the other people who die in the city. I wonder why."

Shelly Brooks Kroesen shared her grief, stating, "This is very sad to shoot like this in broad daylight on a highway. Does anyone know why this boy was targeted? Prayers to the family."

Gina Marie voiced her concerns, saying, "I hope there were cameras on the freeway in the area that this happened and they catch whoever did this. No matter what he did, he didn’t deserve this and whoever did this may come back on them a thousand fold."

Hannah Alyssa simply wrote, "Rest in peace, my baby. You didn’t deserve this."

The tragic death of Christian Moretti underscores the urgent need for solutions to curb the escalating violence in Youngstown. As the investigation continues, the community remains hopeful for swift justice for Moretti and an end to the senseless violence that has cast a shadow over the city.
