37 Years Since Edith Hillman Disappeared from Leakesville, Mississippi – New Tip Offers Renewed Hope

Leakesville, Mississippi – It has been thirty-seven years since Edith Hillman vanished from her home in Leakesville, Mississippi. The case, which has haunted her family and community since 1987, remains unsolved, but a recent tip has reignited hope for answers.

On August 23, 1987, Hillman and her son shared a meal before he departed for college. When he returned home the following Friday, he found their dinner from Sunday still on the stove. This was highly unusual, as Hillman was known for her meticulous housekeeping. Initially, her son believed she might have been at work or with a friend. However, when she had not returned by Saturday morning, he contacted the police.

Investigations revealed that Hillman did not attend her first day at a new job on August 24, 1987. In a chilling discovery, her blue 1979 Toyota Corolla was found in October 1987 in the parking lot of Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The car had been there for an extended period, and blood evidence was found in the back seat. Edith Hillman has not been seen or heard from since.

Recently, a new tip was received regarding Hillman’s case, leading to the involvement of a cold case investigator. The community is hopeful that this lead could finally bring closure to her family.

Many have expressed their thoughts and prayers on social media, hoping that this new development will bring answers. Jeannie Ross Howard commented, “Praying the family can get some answers from the latest tip!” on a post shared by the MissingSippi: Mississippi Missing Persons Facebook page.

As the investigation continues, the community remains vigilant, praying for the day when Edith Hillman’s whereabouts are finally known.
