Amanda Bassett, Holland Resident, Fatally Struck by Train in Springfield Township – Community Mourns Loss

Springfield Township, Ohio – Amanda Bassett, a 36-year-old resident of Holland, tragically lost her life in a train collision on Saturday, August 24th. The fatal incident occurred at approximately 8:33 a.m. at the Crissey Road crossing, just south of Geiser Road.

The Lucas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Bassett was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy performed by Lucas County Coroner Thomas Blomquist on Monday revealed that the cause of death was due to the impact with the train. The circumstances leading to why Amanda Bassett was on the tracks at the time of the accident are still under investigation.

The news of Amanda’s death has left her family and community devastated. Tracy York, who shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, described Amanda as a "gentle and loving soul" with a strong sense of justice.
