Amanda Buchanan Critically Injured in Chula Vista 7-Eleven Fire, Community Rallies in Support

Chula Vista, CA — Amanda Buchanan has been identified as one of the victims in a tragic fire at a 7-Eleven store in Chula Vista, leaving her with severe burn injuries. The fire broke out early Saturday morning, causing critical injuries to two employees. Buchanan, one of the employees, was found unable to move inside the store and was rescued by Chula Vista police officers.

The fire occurred around 8 a.m. at the 7-Eleven located at 899 Broadway. When first responders arrived, they found one woman with burns exiting the store, while Amanda Buchanan was trapped inside, unable to escape due to the severity of her injuries. Officers had to pull her to safety.

Buchanan and her colleague were immediately transported to a local hospital for emergency care. Dominic Rivera, Buchanan’s son, shared a distressing update about her condition, revealing that she sustained burns over 80% of her body. "I went and visited my mom today and could hardly look at her," Rivera said. "Her injuries are so severe that even with skin grafts, there might not be enough healthy skin to cover all the affected areas."

Thankfully, no customers were present in the store at the time of the fire, which prevented further injuries. The Chula Vista Fire Department quickly extinguished the blaze, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Authorities are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

The Chula Vista community has responded with an outpouring of support for Amanda Buchanan and the other injured employee. Vigils and fundraising efforts are being organized as people come together to offer help and solidarity. This tragic event has highlighted the risks faced by workers and the critical role of community support in times of crisis.

Several people have taken to social media to express their support and prayers for Buchanan. Samantha Pinnick posted, “My prayers go out to Amanda Buchanan. I don’t know her very well but the few times we crossed paths, she’s been a very nice person. I’m sending all my prayers right now to her and her family.” Another community member, Sandy Wagner, simply noted, "Amanda from ncsh," in a heartfelt message.

As the investigation continues, the Chula Vista Police Department encourages anyone with information to contact them. The community remains united in their hope for the recovery of Amanda Buchanan and her colleague.
