Shawnee National Forest, Anna, IL – The forestry community is mourning the loss of Austin Davidson, a dedicated and passionate environmentalist who made significant contributions to the preservation of natural spaces. Austin Davidson, who served as the Integrated Resources Crew Supervisor for the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to the environment.

Davidson’s career in forestry was marked by his tenure as a Forestry Technician with the Shawnee National Forest team from June 2016 to February 2019. During this time, he was instrumental in creating a mile-long trail, a testament to his commitment to making the forest more accessible while preserving its natural beauty. His efforts extended beyond trail creation, as he also played a crucial role in maintaining wilderness trails throughout the Shawnee National Forest.

Austin Davidson’s passion for environmental conservation was not just a job; it was a lifelong commitment. After completing his studies at Southeast Missouri State University in May 2017, he set his sights on becoming a wildlife biologist or land manager, aspiring to work for a federal or non-profit organization.
