Rascoe’s passing marks the end of an era for Kentucky basketball, as he was celebrated as one of the greatest players in WKU’s history.
Born in Owensboro, Kentucky, Bobby Rascoe’s journey to basketball stardom began in his high school years at Daviess County High School, where he led his team to the state tournament in 1957 and 1958. His exceptional performances earned him Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) All-Tournament honors in both years. Notably, in 1958, Rascoe’s remarkable talent was on full display when he scored 103 points in the state tournament, earning him All-American honors.
Rascoe’s stellar high school career paved the way for his legendary status at Western Kentucky University. As a Hilltopper, his impact was profound, both on and off the court. In recognition of his contributions, Rascoe was inducted into the inaugural WKU Athletic Hall of Fame class in 1991, and his jersey was retired by the university in 2012, a testament to his lasting legacy.
