Beloved Author Vicki Thompson Passes Away, Leaving a Legacy in Literature and Community

The literary world and the Seton Hill University community are mourning the unexpected loss of Vicki Thompson, a celebrated author and mentor, who passed away earlier this week. Thompson was well-known for her work in the Gaslight Mysteries and Counterfeit Lady Novels, which have left a lasting impact on readers and colleagues alike.

Vicki Thompson, remembered by many as a beacon of kindness and support, was an integral part of the Seton Hill University’s MFA program, where she not only honed her craft but also mentored aspiring writers. Her ability to guide and inspire others was widely recognized, and her contributions to the literary world will be deeply missed.

Traci Douglass, a fellow author and one of Thompson’s former mentees, shared her sorrow on Facebook, writing, "So very sad to hear that author Victoria Thompson has passed away. Vicki Thompson was the first person I met on the first night of my very first residency in my MFA program at Seton Hill University. She was very kind to very nervous me and made me feel so welcome."

Douglass continued, reflecting on Thompson’s lasting influence, "Later, she became my second mentor in the program and helped guide me to finish my thesis project, a romance that sold a few years later to Entangled Publishing as Worth the Wait. She was tough but fair, and working with her on it made it a better book and me a better writer."

Thompson’s death has left a profound void, not only in the hearts of those who knew her personally but also in the broader literary community. Her enduring legacy will live on through her works and the countless lives she touched through her mentorship and friendship.

As the news of her passing spreads, the outpouring of grief and tributes from friends, family, and community members continues to grow, a testament to the profound impact Vicki Thompson had on those around her.
