Chatham Fisherman Edward Footer Dies in Tragic Multi-Vehicle Crash on Route 6 in Brewster

Brewster, MA – The community of Chatham is mourning the loss of 57-year-old Edward Footer, a respected fisherman, who tragically died in a multi-vehicle accident on Route 6 in Brewster on Monday afternoon. The accident occurred near Exit 85 around 3:15 p.m., when a 2020 Isuzu truck crossed the median and struck Footer’s vehicle head-on.

Edward Footer was driving a 2006 Toyota Tundra eastbound when the Isuzu truck, driven by a 24-year-old man from Yarmouth, veered into his lane. The collision resulted in fatal injuries for Footer, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Massachusetts State Police. The driver of the Isuzu truck sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, while the driver of a third vehicle involved, a 1997 GMC Safari, emerged unscathed.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in their efforts. The accident has highlighted the dangers of high-speed travel on busy highways like Route 6, and the community is left grappling with the sudden and devastating loss of Edward Footer.

In the wake of this tragic event, friends and members of the Chatham community have expressed their condolences and sorrow on social media.
