Community Mourns the Loss of Beloved CASA Director, Candy Pierce, in Solano County

Solano County, California – The community is deeply saddened by the passing of Candy Pierce, the Executive Director of CASA of Solano County, who died on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Pierce, a dedicated advocate for children in foster care, passed away from complications believed to be related to COVID-19. Her passing has left a significant void in the hearts of those who knew her and the countless lives she touched through her work and community involvement.

Candy Pierce was not just an Executive Director; she was a tireless advocate who played a pivotal role in transforming the lives of children in the foster care system. Under her leadership, CASA of Solano County thrived, providing court-appointed advocates for abused and neglected children. Pierce’s work was marked by deep empathy, unyielding dedication, and an inspiring ability to mobilize others to join in her mission.

As news of her passing spread, members of the community took to social media to express their grief and share memories of Candy. Rotary District 5160, where Candy was an active and influential member, posted a heartfelt tribute: “Our dear Candy Pierce passed away today. We are in shock and are so heartbroken. At this early time, it is believed she passed due to complications from COVID. Rest in Peace, Dear Friend.”

John Donlevy, a fellow Rotarian, reflected on Candy’s impact in their community: “Candy came to Winters and helped facilitate our Strategic Planning, which resulted in the construction of a girls’ school and many water wells in Tanzania. She both motivated and inspired our Club to do some great projects. Candy was a wonderful person.”

Another Rotarian, Vickie Leigh, shared her admiration for Candy’s leadership: “I was a Club President under her District Governor leadership. Candy was an inspiration to me for sure. RIP Candy, you must be needed in Heaven.”

Kathy Suvia echoed the sentiments of many who knew Candy, saying, “Candy was a role model for so many of us. Her legacy of leadership will continue throughout the Rotary world.”

Candy Pierce’s legacy of compassion and dedication to child advocacy will continue to inspire those who follow in her footsteps. Her loss is not only a tragedy for her family, including her daughter Samantha, but also for the broader community she served so faithfully. As we remember Candy, we honor the remarkable life she lived and the indelible impact she had on those around her.
