Celina, Texas – David Neill Jones, a beloved resident of Celina, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on August 24, 2024, at the age of 62. His final moments were filled with the comforting sounds of the praise and worship song "I Speak Jesus," as he transitioned from this life to his eternal rest.
David was born on June 8, 1962, in San Juan, Texas, and was the youngest of two children. His family relocated to Kerrville, Texas, in 1964, where David spent most of his life. He met his future wife, Teela Craighead, in 1978 at a drive-in movie theater in Kerrville, and they married in 1981. The couple raised their daughter in Kerrville before moving to Celina in 2020 to be closer to their daughter and grandson.
Known for his humor, wit, and integrity, David was often compared to comedian Ron White in his younger years. Despite a tough exterior, he was known for his kind heart, especially as he aged. David found immense joy in his role as "Papa" to his grandson, Austin David, whom he cherished deeply.
In his final days, David faced his battle with cancer with unwavering faith. He expressed his readiness to "get to heaven" and approached his last moments with peace and assurance.
David is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Teela, their daughter Kayla, and his cherished grandson Austin. He is also remembered by his brother, nephews, and many friends who were like family. The family extends their gratitude to Concho Hearts Hospice of Pilot Point for their compassionate care during David’s final days.
