Fairfax County, Virginia – Devin Stewart, a 23-year-old resident of Fredericksburg, tragically lost his life in a fatal car crash on Friday morning. The accident occurred on I-66 near the Beltway Interchange.
The crash happened shortly before 8 a.m. when a construction vehicle veered off the westbound lanes of I-66, near I-495. The vehicle crashed through traffic bollards, entered the express lanes, and collided with a guardrail and a Jersey wall. The impact caused the vehicle to flip over and catch fire, leading to extensive damage, including to the nearby EZ Pass system equipment.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced Devin Stewart dead. No other injuries were reported in the immediate aftermath of the crash.
The accident led to the closure of the interstate for several hours while authorities conducted investigations. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by local authorities.
