Duarte Community Mourns the Loss of Michelle Zavala as Fundraiser is Launched to Honor Her Life

Duarte, California – The community of Duarte is coming together to honor the life of Michelle Zavala, who tragically passed away on August 20th due to complications from a recent surgery. Michelle Zavala was well-known and loved in her community for her selflessness, always willing to help those in need. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, who also volunteered her time to ensure the safety and well-being of her neighborhood.

In the wake of her passing, Amanda Sosa, a close family member, has organized a fundraiser to help cover the expenses of Michelle’s funeral services. The fundraiser, launched today, has set a goal of $15,000. So far, $340 has been raised from six donations. Contributions include $50 from Zoe Davitt, $25 from Christian McCafferty, $25 from Kelsey Mark, and two $100 donations from Noemi Vargas and Judith Merida.

The community has been deeply affected by Michelle’s passing, with many sharing their thoughts and condolences on social media. Corina Valenzuela expressed her sorrow by saying, "This One Hurt. You will be missed, Michelle Zavala. Give Greg a big hug from us & tell him we love & miss him. We love you." Lori Ann Salas also shared her sympathy, saying, "Sry for your loss."

The fundraiser is a reflection of the impact Michelle Zavala had on those around her, and the community’s desire to give her the proper farewell she deserves. Anyone wishing to contribute to the funeral expenses is encouraged to donate and share the fundraiser to help reach the goal.
