Eck Ormiston, Beloved Gala Community Figure and Club Supporter, Passes Away

Eck Ormiston, a cherished member of the Gala community and a long-time supporter of local clubs, has passed away. His death has brought a wave of sadness across the community, particularly among those connected with the Gala Cricket Club and the Gala Bowling Club.

Ormiston was deeply involved with Gala Cricket Club, where he served as an honorary vice president and had previously played for the club’s 2nd XI team. His support extended beyond playing, as he was a committed sponsor and a staunch advocate for the club. His family’s involvement at the club’s Mossilee grounds further underscores their long-standing dedication to the local cricket scene.

In a statement, the Gala Cricket Club expressed their sorrow, stating, "The club is deeply saddened to report that Eck Ormiston has passed away. Eck is one of our honorary vice presidents, a former 2nd XI player, and a long-time sponsor and supporter of the club, whose family have been heavily involved at Mossilee for many years. Condolences to the Ormiston family from everyone at the club."

Eck’s contributions were equally significant at Gala Bowling Club, where he was known for his quiet dedication to maintaining the club’s grounds. The club expressed their sadness in a heartfelt message, saying, "The club is saddened to hear of the passing of Eck Ormiston, who had a long association with Gala Bowling Club. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time from everyone at the club. RIP Eck."

Numerous tributes have poured in on social media from those who knew and admired Eck Ormiston. Sheena White commented, "So sad to hear this news. Eck was such a canny lovely man.
