Edgerton, Ohio – Levi Hess, a 17-year-old student and athlete from Edgerton High School, tragically lost his life in a car accident over the weekend in Camden, Michigan. The fatal crash occurred early Sunday morning on North Main Street in Camden, Michigan, near the Ohio and Indiana borders.
According to the Michigan State Police, Levi Hess was driving a pickup truck when he lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and collide with two cars parked in a driveway. Levi was rushed to Hillsdale Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A 16-year-old passenger, identified as Tucker, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital in Ann Arbor for treatment.
Levi Hess was a beloved member of the Edgerton community, known for his participation in various sports, including baseball, football, and wrestling. In addition to his athletic pursuits, Levi had recently joined the Village of Edgerton’s Jr Firefighters program in March of this year, further endearing him to his peers and the community.
Edgerton High School released a statement expressing their deep sorrow over the loss of Levi Hess, highlighting the impact his passing has had on the school community. "His loss is deeply felt across our school community, and our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and all who knew him," the statement read.
In response to this tragic event, the school has arranged for trained support staff to be available for students who wish to speak with a counselor, offering emotional support during this difficult time.
On Facebook, several individuals expressed their grief and support for Levi Hess’s family and the Edgerton community. Shanea Schooley-Herman wrote, “You are so loved, Levi.” Paula Williams added, “Thinking of the Bulldog family. Sending hugs.” Melanie Wildhaber-Thomson commented, “Heartbreaking. I’m so sorry for your loss.
