Evans Page Dies Following Fatal Bywater Shooting, Suspect Jerrell Andrews in Custody Awaiting Extradition

New Orleans, Louisiana – Evans Page, a 27-year-old resident, was tragically killed in a fatal shooting that took place in the Bywater neighborhood earlier this month. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office confirmed Page’s identity following the incident, which occurred on August 8, 2024.

According to reports from the New Orleans Police Department, the shooting happened at approximately 10:34 p.m. at the intersection of Poland Avenue and North Johnson Street. Page was seated in a vehicle with another individual when an assailant approached and fired multiple shots into the car. Page sustained several gunshot wounds and was rushed to a local hospital by paramedics. Despite their efforts, Page succumbed to his injuries on August 18, 2024, ten days after the attack.

The New Orleans Police Department has since classified the case as a homicide. An arrest warrant has been issued for 24-year-old Jerrell Andrews, who is suspected of carrying out the shooting. Andrews is currently in custody in Houston, Texas, and is expected to be extradited to Orleans Parish to face charges, including second-degree murder and additional domestic-related offenses.

As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of Evans Page, whose life was cut short in this senseless act of violence.
