NEW FRANKEN, Wis. – Tragedy struck in Brown County on Monday morning when a head-on collision on Highway 54 claimed the lives of two individuals. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victims as 28-year-old Janir J. Rodriguez-Montoya of Green Bay and 32-year-old Jorge E. Herrera-Salgado of Denmark. Rodriguez-Montoya was the driver, with Herrera-Salgado as his passenger.
The fatal accident occurred near the intersection of State 54 and St. Kilian Road in the town of Scott. According to authorities, Rodriguez-Montoya’s vehicle, which was traveling eastbound, veered across the centerline, colliding head-on with an oncoming pickup truck driven by Aaron Heim of Luxemburg. Heim sustained serious injuries in the crash and was rushed to the hospital. His current condition has not been disclosed.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at approximately 5:22 a.m., where both Rodriguez-Montoya and Herrera-Salgado were pronounced dead. The Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating the circumstances that led to this tragic accident.
This incident has left the communities of Green Bay and Denmark in mourning, as the families of the victims cope with the sudden loss of their loved ones.
