Los Angeles, California – Deveon Foster, a 39-year-old resident of Los Angeles, has been identified as one of the two victims tragically killed in a shooting in the Vermont-Vista neighborhood. The incident took place on Tuesday night, August 20, 2024, around 9:50 p.m.
According to authorities, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Division responded to reports of a shooting at a smoke shop located at 8651 Figueroa Street, near Manchester Avenue. Upon arrival, witnesses informed the police that Foster and another man, who has not yet been identified, were inside the store when two assailants entered and opened fire. The suspects, described as men in their 20s, fired multiple shots before fleeing the scene.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel arrived shortly after and confirmed the deaths of both victims at the scene. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has since identified Deveon Foster as one of the deceased, while the identity of the second victim remains unknown.
Authorities are investigating the incident, which they suspect may be related to gang activity. The investigation is ongoing as police work to identify and apprehend the suspects responsible for this tragic event.
