Fort Worth Tragedy – Willie Gunn, Girlfriend, and Her Three Children Killed in Alleged Drunk Driving Incident on I-35W

Fort Worth, Texas – The community is mourning the tragic loss of Willie Gunn, his girlfriend Amber Hopewell, and her three young children, ages 2, 4, and 9, who were killed in a horrific accident caused by an alleged drunk driver on I-35W in Fort Worth earlier this week.

The accident occurred when 19-year-old Eduardo Gonzalez, driving a black Camaro, reportedly crashed into the back of the sedan carrying the victims near the Seminary exit. The impact was so severe that the vehicle burst into flames, and all five occupants died at the scene. The identities of the victims were difficult to determine due to the intensity of the fire.

Fort Worth police found alcoholic beverages in the Camaro, and Gonzalez, who survived the crash, exhibited signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and the smell of alcohol. He was later charged with five counts of intoxication manslaughter and is currently in the Tarrant County jail.

Willie Gunn’s family, now grappling with unimaginable grief, has launched a fundraiser to cover his funeral expenses. "It was a tragic, painful loss & so unexpected," said Jacresia Gunn, who organized the GoFundMe campaign. The fundraiser has set a goal of $12,000 to ensure Willie Gunn is laid to rest properly.

The incident has sparked an outpouring of grief on social media. Alecia Gunn, Willie’s ex-wife, posted, "Rest In Heaven My Dear Husband…" while Susie Clinesmith expressed anger, writing, "KEEP the drunk in jail! Needs prison he took FIVE lives."

Others shared their sorrow and disbelief at the tragedy. "This is so sad…," wrote BrownSuga Shuntel. "Prayers to the families," added Erma Dailey. Diamantito Mendez reflected on the devastating loss, noting, "I can imagine their family members seeing in their minds all of them burn. They are not even going to see them one last time cause they are unrecognizable. This is devastating and tragic."

The Fort Worth community continues to rally around the affected families, offering condolences, prayers, and donations as they navigate this heartbreaking time.
