Fundraiser Launched to Honor the Life and Legacy of Shayana Stephens, a 27-Year-Old from Charlotte

Charlotte, NC – A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to celebrate the life and legacy of Shayana Stephens, who passed away on August 17, 2024. The fundraiser, organized by Nora Mcmullen, aims to raise $3,000 to cover funeral expenses and give Shayana a proper homecoming service that reflects her beautiful and infectious spirit.

Shayana Stephens was born with cerebral palsy, a condition that presented her with numerous challenges. Despite doctors predicting she would not live to see her tenth birthday, Shayana defied the odds and lived to be 27 years old, achieving many accomplishments that filled her parents with pride.

Her father, Efford Stephens, shared that Shayana’s passing was unexpected. She had been hospitalized for three months with pneumococcal pneumonia. Although she was able to return home, her condition worsened, leading to her untimely death. Efford, who is currently undergoing dialysis and in need of a kidney transplant, expressed the immense grief he and Shayana’s mother are experiencing.

The GoFundMe campaign encourages the community to support Shayana’s family in this difficult time. Nora Mcmullen, the organizer, hopes to gather enough funds to honor Shayana’s memory and provide a fitting tribute to her life. As of now, the fundraiser is seeking its first donations.

Donations to the campaign are protected by GoFundMe’s Giving Guarantee, ensuring that contributors can receive a full refund in the rare event of fraud.

Those wishing to contribute can do so by visiting the fundraiser page and making a donation, helping to celebrate Shayana Stephens’ life and legacy.
