Garland, Texas – The community is grieving the loss of 21-year-old Lincer Lopez, who tragically drowned while saving a teenage girl at Lake Waxahachie on Saturday, August 27, 2024. The incident occurred just one hour after Lincer had been baptized, marking a day that was supposed to symbolize spiritual renewal.
Lincer Lopez was attending a church outing when the tragedy unfolded. As the group celebrated his baptism, a teenage girl began struggling in the water. Without hesitation, Lincer sprang into action to save her, demonstrating his selflessness and courage. However, after successfully aiding in the rescue, Lincer himself began to struggle and eventually slipped beneath the surface.
The teenage girl was later rescued by a nearby boater who administered CPR, saving her life. Tragically, it was too late for Lincer, though the boater was able to recover his body from the lake.
Lincer’s heroic actions have deeply affected his family, friends, and the entire Garland community. Known for his kindness, humility, and compassion, Lincer’s final act was a profound testament to his character.
