Jefferson Township, PA – Gary Welsh, a 79-year-old resident of Saxonburg, tragically lost his life following a motorcycle accident involving a school bus. The fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Dinnerbell and Victory roads in Jefferson Township on Thursday, August 22, 2024.
According to the Butler County Coroner’s Office, Welsh was identified as the motorcyclist involved in the crash. The accident happened when Welsh, after stopping at a stop sign, turned right onto Dinnerbell Road. He reportedly crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, where a westbound school bus, unable to stop in time, collided with him. The crash report states that the bus dragged the motorcycle and Welsh for about 30 feet after impact.
The incident has deeply affected the local community, with many expressing their condolences and support on social media. Sheryl Ciukowski Henricks shared, "What an awful accident! His poor family losing a loved one this way, so sad, and those kids that had to witness this! My thoughts and prayers go out to them."
