Gerardo Hernandez’s Passing Sparks Outpouring of Support and Fundraiser Effort for His Family

Tampa, FL – The community is coming together to support the family of Gerardo Hernandez, a former member of the Travis Air Force Base Raven Section, who tragically passed away on August 23, 2024. Hernandez, known for his positive attitude and humorous stories, was a beloved figure among his peers, often bringing laughter to those around him.

After leaving the military in December 2023, Gerardo began battling mental health issues, a struggle he ultimately lost. The news of his passing has left his family, friends, and the community heartbroken.

A GoFundMe campaign has been organized by Sebastian Borges to assist Gerardo’s mother, Elizabeth Posse, in covering the costs associated with this tragic event. The fundraiser has so far raised $3,415 of its $10,000 goal, with 27 donations. The community’s support has been overwhelming, with contributions ranging from $20 to $1,500.

On Facebook, many have shared their condolences and memories of Gerardo. Julissa De Maria expressed her sorrow, saying, "This one hit very hard!" She also shared the GoFundMe link, encouraging others to donate or share the fundraiser.
