Hindman, Kentucky Resident Torie Slone Keene Passes Away at 33, Community Mourns

Hindman, Kentucky – Torie Slone Keene, a beloved member of the Hindman community, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, at the age of 33. Her untimely death occurred at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY, leaving her family, friends, and the community in profound grief.

Torie was born on October 12, 1990, in Martin, Kentucky, to Geraldine Slone Magness and the late Stanley “Jawbone” Slone. Known for her vibrant personality and infectious sense of humor, Torie brought joy and laughter to everyone she encountered. She was a dedicated wife to her husband, Shawn Keene, and a loving mother to her son, Bentley Keene.

Torie’s sudden passing has led to an outpouring of condolences and prayers on social media. Many have taken to Facebook to express their sorrow and share memories of Torie. Brandy Leann Smith posted, "Oh LORD my heart, GOD please help us JESUS." Brittany Reneé Charles wrote, "So sorry for your loss. Praying for all the family… Rest in peace T, I will always love you and miss you." Afo Jean Jacobs added, "So sorry to hear this, a beautiful young lady."

Other heartfelt messages include Hunter Keene’s, who shared, "This hurts way too much," and Tammy Slone’s post, "Prayers for this special family that we all love. God please comfort them as you lay your loving and healing arms around each one of them."

The community will have the opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate Torie’s life during visitation at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home Chapel in Hindman, KY. Friends and family are invited on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 6 PM to 10 PM, and Thursday, August 29, 2024, with services each evening at 7 PM. The funeral service will take place on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 1 PM, followed by her burial at the Ben Slone Cemetery in Garner, KY.

Torie Slone Keene’s legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever be cherished by those who knew her. The Hindman community mourns her loss, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of many.
