Jackson Mumu, Electrical Engineer and Community Leader, Passes Away in Port Moresby

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – Jackson Mumu, a respected electrical engineer and managing director of EEC Group Of Companies, passed away on August 22nd, 2024, after a short illness. Mumu, a beloved figure in his community, died at the Port Moresby General Hospital.

Jackson Mumu was known for his significant contributions to the local community, providing employment opportunities for young Papua New Guineans and inspiring those around him. Raised by his mother and paternal uncle after the early passing of his father, Mumu grew to become a loving father and a central figure in his extended family.

In the wake of his passing, Mumu’s family is seeking support to cover the costs of transporting his body from Port Moresby to Mt Hagen and then to their village at Tinsley Baiyer River, where he will be laid to rest. Melisha Mali, his cousin, has organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to assist with these expenses. The campaign has so far raised $75 AUD from four donations, but it aims to reach a $5,000 goal.

On Facebook, friends and family have shared their condolences and expressed their support. Galowana Mel posted, “Hi folks, hope y’all are keeping well. I’ve created this gofund to help raise funds to meet my cousin’s funeral expenses to take him back home for his burial. Pls find attached the link below if you’d like to help. Thank you. God bless.” Another user, Mali Kula Kon Entah, commented, “Am happy to see such intization.”

The family has expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support and kindness during this challenging time. They remember Jackson Mumu as a cherished friend and a pillar of support to everyone who knew him.
