Jamie Alan Oswald of Ashley, Michigan, Passes Away at 45, Leaving Behind a Legacy of Love and Laughter

Ashley, Michigan – Jamie Alan Oswald, a beloved resident of Ashley, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the age of 45. Known for his infectious laugh, kind heart, and deep love for his family and friends, Jamie’s passing has left a void in the lives of many who knew and loved him.

Born on November 9, 1978, in Alma, Michigan, Jamie was the second son of Lonnie and Monica (Ann) Oswald. He grew up in Ithaca and was part of the class of 1998. Although he once dreamed of leaving Michigan and living a single life, everything changed when he met Andrea during his high school years. Their love story quickly blossomed, leading to their marriage on December 8, 2001. For 22 years, Jamie and Andrea navigated life’s joys and challenges together, embodying a partnership defined by mutual support and unwavering love.

Jamie was a devoted father to his two children, Dirk and Aubrey, born in 2006 and 2009, respectively. His pride in Dirk’s shared passion for cars and Aubrey’s cheerleading endeavors was immense. He cherished every moment with his family, who were affectionately known as "The Oswald’s."

A passionate hunter, Jamie found peace in the woods, where he could spend hours immersed in nature. His favorite color was camo, reflecting his love for the outdoors. Jamie’s hunting tales, often animated and full of excitement, were always backed by impressive hunting achievements.

Jamie is survived by his wife, Andrea Yvonne Oswald, and their children, Dirk Robert and Aubrey Yvonne Oswald. He also leaves behind his parents, Lonnie and Monica (Ann) Oswald Sr.; his second parents, Charles and Jody Yelsik; his siblings, Lonnie Oswald Jr. and Bridget Perry; and many other family members, including nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

Funeral services for Jamie will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes in Ithaca, Michigan, on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Dave Perry officiating. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with the family present during select hours at the same location.

Jamie’s family has expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community. Online condolences can be sent through the Smith Family Funeral Homes website. Memorial contributions may be made according to the family’s wishes.

Many friends and community members have shared their condolences on social media. Sheila Marie wrote, “My thoughts & prayers go out to his entire family & friends.” Denise Dennysue Saylor added, “Ronnie and I are keeping the family in our prayers.”
