Jashon Singleton and L Jordan Jones Identified as Victims in North Charleston Fatal Crash

North Charleston, South Carolina – The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identities of the two victims involved in a tragic accident on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Jashon Singleton, 22, of Orangeburg, and L Jordan Jones, 20, of North Charleston, both lost their lives in a devastating collision with a cement truck early that morning.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. on a busy roadway in North Charleston. Emergency responders arrived swiftly, but the severity of the crash left little hope. Singleton and Jones were pronounced dead at the scene due to the extensive injuries they sustained.

Preliminary investigations by the North Charleston Police Department suggest that the vehicle carrying Singleton and Jones collided with the cement truck under still unclear circumstances. The impact was so intense that the car was completely crushed, making it one of the most catastrophic accidents local first responders have encountered.

The driver of the cement truck suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital. The driver is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, which aims to uncover the factors leading to this tragic incident.

As the investigation continues, the North Charleston community mourns the sudden loss of two young lives. Singleton, a resident of Orangeburg, was remembered as a promising young man with a bright future, while Jones, a native of North Charleston, was cherished for her vibrant personality and the joy she brought to those around her.

Several community members and friends took to social media to express their sorrow and offer condolences. Crystal Allen shared, "Prayers for the family," while Stanley Callahan simply stated, "Prayers……..". Cathy Steinard added, "I’m so sorry for your loss," and Gail Sue echoed similar sentiments, "Prayers to the family."

Vigils and memorials are being organized to honor the lives of Singleton and Jones, with their families requesting privacy during this difficult time.

Local authorities have urged drivers to be especially cautious on the roads, particularly during early morning hours when visibility is low. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains active, and the North Charleston Police Department, along with the Charleston County Coroner’s Office, is committed to uncovering the truth behind this heartbreaking event.
