Jeanette Furlong, Beloved Glasgow, KY Resident, Passes Away at Age 88

Glasgow, Kentucky – Jeanette Powell Furlong, a cherished resident of Glasgow, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024, at the age of 88. Surrounded by her family, Jeanette’s final moments were spent at Highland Ridge Assisted Living.

Born on January 19, 1936, in Glasgow, Jeanette was the daughter of the late Paul Herbert and Fannie Mae (Williams) Powell. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Carroll E. Furlong, a bond that brought much joy and love to her life.

Jeanette was a dedicated member of Southside Baptist Church, where her kind and gentle nature touched many. Her love for UK basketball and her devotion to family were well-known, making her a beloved figure in her community.

Jeanette’s legacy continues through her children, Marla Stewart (William), Myra Bishop (Bobby), and Paul Furlong (Tammi). She was also a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, leaving behind a large family who cherished her deeply.

In addition to her immediate family, Jeanette is survived by her sister-in-law, Juda Furlong, her brother-in-law, Edwin Bartley, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her extended family and friends fondly remember her as a warm-hearted and gracious individual.

Her passing has been met with an outpouring of condolences and fond memories from the community. On Facebook, Malissa Missy Stephens simply posted, "Prayers," while Melinda Barrick Lockhart added, "Prayers for her family." Peggy Allen, remembering Jeanette, commented, "Sweet Ms. Jeanette. So very sorry…"

Funeral services for Jeanette Furlong will be held at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with a burial to follow at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM the same day at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Southside Baptist Church Building Fund or to a charity of one’s choice, as a tribute to Jeanette’s spirit of kindness and generosity.
