Linda S. Mason, Longtime Burlington Resident, Passes Away at Age 80

Burlington, Iowa – Linda S. Mason, a cherished resident of Burlington, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the age of 80. Linda was a beloved figure in the community, known for her deep love of animals, especially horses and cats, and her unwavering dedication to her family.

Born on September 4, 1943, in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, Linda was the daughter of William Franklin and Emily Nadine Wooderson Senn. She spent her early years in Illinois before marrying Ronald Wayne Mason on May 31, 1963, in Macomb, Illinois. The couple shared many happy years together until Ronald’s passing on December 28, 2017.

A graduate of Macomb High School, Linda chose to dedicate her life to being a homemaker, a role in which she excelled. Her passion for horses remained a significant part of her life, and she continued to ride them until just a year ago. Linda was also known for her love of knitting, engaging in political discussions, and her fervent support of the Chicago Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Linda is survived by her son, William Scott Mason, and his wife Kellie, both of Burlington, along with her two grandchildren, Ian Scott Mason and Aubree Renee Emily Mason. She also leaves behind her brother, John Christian Senn IV, and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her and her late husband’s wishes, Linda’s body was donated to the University of Iowa for medical research, and cremation has been entrusted to Prugh Crematory. The family has chosen not to hold any visitation or services at this time, and they express their gratitude for the community’s support during this difficult period.
