Long-Time League City Police Department Volunteer John F. Paul Passes Away, Leaving a Legacy of Service and Compassion

League City, Texas – The community is mourning the loss of John F. Paul, one of the most dedicated and influential volunteers at the League City Police Department (LCPD), who passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024. John’s contributions to the department and the wider community have left an indelible mark, making his passing a significant loss for many.

John F. Paul began his volunteer work with the LCPD in 2006, and over the past 18 years, he became a respected and cherished figure within the department. His dedication was evident in the more than 8,000 volunteer hours he logged—a milestone that led to the creation of the League City Police Department John F. Paul Milestone Award, named in his honor.

As a key member of the Volunteers in Policing (VIP) program, John played a crucial role in training and scheduling volunteers. He was also heavily involved in coordinating code enforcement and citizen patrol activities. Beyond his police department duties, John was a pivotal figure in the annual LCPD Community Outreach Golf Tournament, both coordinating the event and contributing financially to various community programs.

John’s influence extended beyond his work with the police department. He was a passionate Little League Baseball umpire, having even umpired in the prestigious Little League World Series. His commitment to the community was recognized through numerous awards, including the LCPD Volunteer of The Year (twice), the LCPD Chief’s Coin of Excellence, and The President’s Lifetime Achievement Volunteer Award from the White House.

The news of John’s passing has led to an outpouring of grief and tributes from the community. Many have taken to social media to express their condolences and share their memories of John.
