Lynwood Community Supports Fundraiser for Perla Prieto’s Funeral Expenses After Sudden Passing

Perla Prieto, a beloved member of the Lynwood, California community, passed away unexpectedly on August 13, 2024, leaving behind her four daughters, Skyla, Laila, Samantha, and Mia. In response to this tragic loss, Skyla Borrayo, the eldest daughter at 17 years old, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the funeral expenses.

Skyla’s heartfelt message on the fundraising page highlights the impact of her mother’s sudden death. She describes Perla as a loving and sweet mom, sister, aunt, and friend who was cherished by everyone who knew her. Skyla’s appeal has already raised $195 out of a $10,000 goal, with four donations made shortly after the campaign’s creation.

Community members have also shared their memories and condolences on social media. Julie Brooks-Hayes, a former colleague of Perla, expressed her grief on Facebook: "Perla was a solid chick and she will be greatly missed. Just a gut punch. I’ll be wearing my Dodger Blue on Sept 4th in honor of Perla since I can’t make it to the funeral. Rest easy, Perla."

The community’s response highlights Perla’s impact, both in her personal and professional life. As the GoFundMe campaign continues, Skyla and her sisters hope to reach their fundraising goal to honor their mother’s memory and give her the farewell she deserves.

Contributions to the fundraiser can be made through the GoFundMe page, where every donation is appreciated as the family navigates this difficult time.
