Madison High School Baseball Star, Eliah Scott Gordo of Rexburg, Idaho, Passes Away at 17

Rexburg, Idaho – The community of Rexburg is mourning the loss of 17-year-old Eliah Scott Gordo, a beloved baseball player at Madison High School, who has sadly passed away. Eliah was born on July 25, 2007, in Idaho, and his passing on August 26, 2024, leaves behind a legacy of joy, love, and remarkable achievements.

Eliah was a standout athlete, known for his exceptional skills on the baseball field. He played for the MadCats Travel Ball team and the Madison High School Varsity baseball team, where his pitching abilities earned him recognition and accolades. His talent shone brightly at events like the Northwest Invitational and the PBR Idaho State Games Invitational, attracting the attention of college scouts.

But Eliah was more than just an athlete. He was a vibrant spirit, deeply connected to his family, and cherished by all who knew him. Alongside his twin sister, Jaida, he embraced his role as a leader in his family, filling their lives with love and adventure. His ability to forge meaningful connections extended beyond the baseball field, making him a cherished friend to many.

Eliah’s love for sports was evident from a young age, excelling in football, soccer, basketball, and especially baseball. His passion for the game was matched by his commitment to his community, as seen in his efforts to maintain his training even during family trips, such as a memorable adventure in the Dominican Republic.

Affectionately known by various nicknames, including "E," "Yeih," "YA-YA," and "Beans," Eliah’s joyful personality was a beacon of light for those around him. His love for Takis, fortune cookies, and music, along with his playful nature, brought smiles to his family and friends.

Eliah is survived by his parents, Troy and Brandee Gordo, his twin sister Jaida Alexis Gordo, his younger brother Isaiah Cruz Gordo, and a large, loving extended family. A celebration of Eliah’s life was held on August 21, 2024, at the Rexburg Stake Center Sports Complex, where attendees honored him by wearing white, and his teammates paid tribute by wearing their team jerseys.

Eliah Scott Gordo will be fondly remembered for his spirit, his love for baseball, and the lasting impact he made on the lives of those who knew him. His legacy of unconditional love, selflessness, and encouragement will continue to inspire his community.
