Marion, Illinois – Bill Garris Sr., a well-known and beloved member of the Marion community, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack in his sleep on August 25, 2024. He was 61 years old. Bill was a devoted husband to his wife, Jessi, and a loving grandfather to his three grandchildren, ages 7, 11, and 13, who lived with him and his wife.
Bill had been dealing with several health issues, including the need for knee surgery, which he had been postponing. Despite his pain, Bill continued to run his mechanic shop out of his garage, contributing significantly to his household’s income. Known for his ever-present smile and willingness to help anyone in need, Bill’s sudden passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him.
In the wake of his passing, family friend Jeannie Coley has organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to help cover the costs of Bill’s funeral and provide financial support to Jessi and the grandchildren during this difficult time. The fundraiser, titled "Help Jessi and Grandkids After Bill’s Passing," has set a goal of $9,000.
The community is encouraged to support the fundraiser to help the family navigate the challenges ahead. Bill’s family and friends express their gratitude for any assistance during this challenging time.
