Mater Dei High School Mourns the Loss of Beloved Teacher Marcos Corona in Santa Ana, CA

Santa Ana, CA – The Mater Dei High School community is grieving the loss of Mr. Marcos Corona, a cherished member of the World Languages Department, who passed away on the morning of August 21, 2024. Mr. Corona was not only a respected and beloved teacher but also a devoted husband, father, and friend.

Mr. Corona’s deep faith and unwavering dedication to education left a profound impact on his students and colleagues. Known for his passion for teaching, he inspired countless students with his love of languages and culture. Beyond the classroom, Marcos was committed to supporting his students, often attending their games and performances, and offering encouragement both inside and outside the classroom.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Corona was a man of many passions. He had a love for reading, particularly the Classics, and a deep appreciation for opera. An avid cyclist, he often rode his bike to work, embodying a lifestyle of health and vitality that inspired many in the community.

The passing of Mr. Corona has left a significant void at Mater Dei High School. In their announcement, the school highlighted his profound impact on campus life, describing him as a friend to all and a teacher who truly loved his profession. His absence will be deeply felt by students, colleagues, and friends alike.

The school has called on the community to keep Mr. Corona’s wife and children in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Mater Dei High School has assured parents and students that updates regarding a celebration of Mr. Corona’s life will be provided as they become available. In the meantime, the Counseling, Campus Ministry, and Health Services Offices are offering support to students as they cope with this significant loss.
