Missing Bronx Man, Humberto Luna, Found Dead in Bronx River; Investigation Ongoing

Bronx, New York – The body of Humberto Luna, a Bronx resident who had been missing for several months, was found in the Bronx River near Starlight Park on March 1, 2024. The discovery, which was made by the New York Police Department and the New York Fire Department, revealed that Luna had tragically drowned.

Humberto Luna, identified as a Black/Hispanic male, was found wearing a red sweatshirt, black pants with white side stripes, and black and red shoes. He was approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed around 162 pounds. Despite law enforcement’s efforts, Luna’s identity remained a mystery for several months until a breakthrough came through social media.

A TikTok user, who goes by the handle @honeyhunnch0, played a crucial role in identifying Luna. In a video that has since gone viral, the user shared that Luna had appeared at her apartment complex just hours before his body was found. She recounted a troubling encounter where Luna rang her doorbell repeatedly. When she asked him to leave, Luna allegedly responded with the ominous phrase, "They sent me," before walking away.

Starlight Park, where Luna’s body was discovered, is known for its association with gang activity. While authorities have not confirmed any connection between Luna’s death and such activities, the location has fueled speculation about his final moments.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Luna’s death has been challenging. Despite releasing a sketch of Luna to the public, no family members or friends initially came forward to identify him. Authorities continue to seek answers and have urged anyone with information to contact the NYPD.

As the investigation progresses, the Bronx community is left grappling with the loss and the unanswered questions surrounding Humberto Luna’s death. Law enforcement remains hopeful that someone who knew Luna will come forward to help bring closure to this tragic case.
