Odell Mourns the Loss of Joseph Jerald "Jerry / Craze" Hogan, Remembered for His Love of Family, Motorcycles, and Kindness

Odell, Illinois – The community of Odell is grieving the loss of Joseph Jerald "Jerry / Craze" Hogan, who passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024, at the age of 65. Jerry’s passing occurred at OSF St. Joseph in Bloomington, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a passion for motorcycles.

Born on May 26, 1959, in Pontiac, Jerry was the son of Joseph and Dorothy Overocker Hogan. He was known for his deep love for his family, particularly his granddaughter, Lorelai Hogan, who was the light of his life. Jerry had a profound affection for animals, often seen feeding squirrels and birds, and cherished the evenings spent around a bonfire with his significant other, Diane Masching, who brought joy to his final years.

Jerry is survived by his three children, Nathon Hogan, Joseph Hogan, and Onyx Charron, along with his granddaughter Lorelai. He also leaves behind eight siblings: Bob Hogan, Mick Hogan, Mary Berry, Bill Hogan, Tom Hogan, Kathy Feltenz, Tim Hogan, and Shari Bremer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His significant other, Diane Masching, was by his side during the last two years, which he described as some of the best of his life.

The community has expressed an outpouring of sympathy and shared fond memories of Jerry on social media. Debbie Vogt wrote, "Sending sympathy to the Hogan family!" while Martha Olson reflected, "Super nice guy! RIP Jerry." Others like Jim Schott remembered him as "One heck of a man!! Always had a smile on his face. Would help anyone in need!!" Jeanne Barnes, Todd J. Tissiere, and many others also extended their heartfelt condolences to the Hogan family.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 26th, at 1 p.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac. Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the same day at the funeral home, with burial to follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Odell.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses. Jerry will be remembered for his generosity, love for family, and the simple joys he found in life. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
