Oshawa, Ontario – The Oshawa community is reeling from the tragic loss of 14-year-old Subhan Mareer, who was found strangled to death in a parked car at the Oshawa Mall on August 16th. The incident has left his family and the local community in shock, as they desperately seek answers to understand the circumstances surrounding his death.
Subhan, a bright and enthusiastic student, was eagerly anticipating starting high school at Donald A. Wilson Secondary School this fall. Having recently completed his studies at Jack Miner Public School, he had been looking forward to this new chapter in his life. On the day of the incident, Subhan had opted to wait in the family’s blue Honda Odyssey while his parents ran errands with his younger siblings. Tragically, when his family returned to the vehicle, they found him unresponsive, with a seatbelt around his neck. The devastating discovery has left his parents and siblings in a state of profound grief and confusion.
In a heartfelt plea to the public, Subhan’s family is asking for anyone who was at the mall parking lot between 4:00 and 5:30 pm, particularly near the second entrance close to Tim Hortons, to come forward with any information. They are especially interested in hearing from anyone who might have seen a Tesla parked directly in front of their vehicle, as it may have recorded crucial footage that could help explain what happened.
The incident has also garnered attention on social media, where members of the community have expressed their shock and sorrow. Fyza Saeed shared on Facebook, "I’m shocked, speechless, and heartbroken for this family." Another user, Asra Bano, commented, "Omg, was this in the news? This is so horrifying. No place feels safe anymore. So many questions in mind. Hope the culprit gets caught, and the parents get closure."
Subhan’s family is holding onto the hope that someone with even the smallest piece of information will come forward to help them find the answers they need. As they navigate this heartbreaking time, the community’s support and any leads from the public are crucial in their search for closure.
