Pastor Phillip Mashudu and Wife Elsie Matlou Mashudu Reported Missing After Leaving Bethlehem for Church Conference

Bethlehem, South Africa – Pastor Phillip Mashudu, 55, and his wife, Elsie Matlou Mashudu, 54, have been reported missing. The couple was last seen leaving their home in Bethlehem on Friday, August 23, 2024, to attend a church conference in Parys. They were traveling in a white Mercedes Benz GLS with the registration ALTAR FS.

The Mashudus’ disappearance has raised concern among their family, friends, and the community. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding their whereabouts to contact Bethlehem Detective Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Nel, at 082 526 2717, or alternatively, call Crime Stop at 08600 10111. Information can also be submitted through the My SAPS App.

On Facebook, many people have expressed their concern and prayers for the safe return of the couple. Uplifted Amukelani Isaac commented, "Government must step up against kidnapping and extortion. They must use force!" expressing a sense of urgency and concern about the situation. Dimakatso Motlapema offered a prayer, saying, "May God protect them in the name of Jesus amen."

Tiisetso Katlego Junior echoed a common sentiment, remarking, "Eish I smell kidnapping here, let’s pray for safe return," while Prince Mbewe also prayed, "May God protect them and bring them alive to the Altar."

The case has stirred fears and unease within the community, as Masingi Mamba noted, "Hope isn’t what we are thinking cos this country honestly speaking is a mess," reflecting the broader concerns about safety and security in the region.

As the search continues, the community hopes for a positive outcome and the safe return of Pastor Phillip Mashudu and Elsie Matlou Mashudu.
