Butler, Pennsylvania – Reverend Henry B. Hall Jr., a devoted servant of God and beloved community member, passed away early on the morning of August 27, 2024, at the age of 88. Reverend Hall, known for his unwavering faith and dedication to his ministry, spent decades serving the Nixon United Methodist Church in Butler, Pennsylvania, and continued his pastoral work even in retirement.
Born on February 26, 1936, Reverend Hall was raised in Highpoint, North Carolina. He attended Nyack College, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1959 and married his lifelong partner, Janice, on August 4, 1956. His journey in ministry began with his first pastoral appointment at Kennard and Fallowfield churches, followed by his role as Associate Pastor at the First United Methodist Church in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Reverend Hall served the Nixon United Methodist Church for 28 years, leaving a lasting impact on the congregation and the wider community. Even after retiring in 1996, his commitment to serving others continued as he took on the role of Chaplain at the Butler VA Hospital, where he worked for 17 years until his second retirement in 2009.
Throughout his life, Reverend Hall pursued education fervently, earning multiple degrees, including a Bachelor of Arts from Thiel College, a Bachelor of Divinity from Oberlin College, a Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt University, a Master of Arts from Slippery Rock University, and a Doctor of Humanities from the University of Metaphysics.
Reverend Hall’s passing has deeply affected those who knew him. On Facebook, his granddaughter Brianne Hall Deal shared a heartfelt message, remembering him as one of the smartest men she had ever known, and someone who taught her that "God loves you and hears you anywhere—not just when you’re in a church."

Reverend Hall is survived by his wife of 68 years, Janice Hall, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward his legacy of love, faith, and devotion.
