Sacramento Community Rallies to Support Pastor Chuck Slater’s Family After His Passing

Sacramento, California – The community is coming together to support the family of Pastor Chuck Slater, who passed away earlier this year on Father’s Day. As the family navigates this challenging time, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched by his son, Scot Slater, to assist in covering the extensive expenses associated with Pastor Slater’s passing and to fulfill a promise made to him before his death.

Pastor Chuck Slater, a beloved figure in the community, left behind his wife, Marilyn, and his sister, Florence, who have been living together since Scot was born in 1974. The funds raised through this campaign will go towards covering funeral and memorial costs, managing the family’s financial affairs, and helping with the relocation of Marilyn and Florence from Yuma, Arizona, to be closer to their family.

Scot Slater expressed his deep appreciation for the support already shown by the community, stating in a recent Facebook post, "Thank you to the many of you who have already contributed to our GoFundMe campaign. You will likely never know the true magnitude of how much stress you are helping to take off the family."

The GoFundMe campaign, launched on August 23rd, 2024, has so far raised $620 of its $25,000 goal, with donations ranging from $50 to $200. Contributors like Geraldine Cannon, who donated $200, and others have expressed their solidarity with the Slater family during this time of transition.

Scot and his brother Ryan are committed to honoring their father’s wish to "take care of my girls," as Pastor Slater affectionately referred to Marilyn and Florence. The family plans to memorialize him on September 10th at Real Life Church in Sacramento, with the hope that by the end of the year, they will have completed the necessary arrangements to relocate Marilyn and Florence.

Community members have also shared their thoughts and prayers on Facebook. Nancy Ostrander commented, "There are the ladies we know and love! So good to see you!!" while Geri Cannon added, "Good morning beautiful ladies!"

The Slater family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and encourages anyone who wishes to contribute to consider donating through their GoFundMe page, as every donation helps ease the burden during this difficult time.
