San Luis Obispo, California – In a tragic incident on Wednesday evening, August 28, 2024, two men, Jose Peralta, 49, of San Luis Obispo, and Donald Avery Jr., 52, of Paso Robles, lost their lives in a severe car accident.
The collision occurred around 9:30 p.m. when Peralta, driving south on Beach Street, failed to stop at a sign and crashed into another vehicle at the Pismo Street intersection. Peralta’s car, which was reported to be speeding, overturned multiple times. Both Peralta and Avery, who were not wearing seat belts, were ejected from the vehicle and sustained critical injuries. Despite efforts to save them, both were pronounced dead at a local hospital.
A third passenger in the vehicle, who was secured by a seat belt, survived with minor injuries. The driver of the second vehicle, a woman, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities suspect that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
