Sandusky, Ohio – The racing community in Sandusky is in mourning following the death of Chris Mize, a beloved Race Director at Sandusky Speedway. Chris, a resident of Sandusky, Ohio, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and leadership in the motorsports industry.
Chris Mize was born in Berlin Heights, Ohio, and spent over three decades influencing the racing world. For the past four years, he played a crucial role in the Ohio Wheelman Series. Known as a "Man’s Man," Chris was tough yet kind-hearted, always showing gratitude to first responders and veterans. He was also deeply devoted to his family, being a loving husband to Debby Poling Mize and a proud father and grandfather.
His impact extended far beyond the race track, as he served as a mentor to many within the racing community. His loss will be felt deeply by the Sandusky Speedway family and the many lives he touched.
Friends and colleagues have taken to social media to express their sorrow. Danny Honsaker wrote, "Rip Chris Mize. I’ve never met you but I’ve heard great things about you from Chris Nicastro. Rest easy, sir. Praying for the one involved and for the family." Tim Doss, who once worked with Chris, added, "He was a good dude. Used to work with him."
