Search Intensifies for Missing Elderly Couple, Stephanie and Daniel Menard, Last Seen in Redlands, California

Redlands, California – The search for an elderly couple, Stephanie Menard, 73, and her husband Daniel Menard, 79, continues as authorities and the community rally to locate them after they mysteriously disappeared over the weekend from their home in Redlands.

Stephanie and Daniel, known for their warm presence in the local community, were last seen on Saturday, August 24, around 10 a.m. near their home on Kessel Road. Their sudden disappearance has left family, friends, and neighbors in shock and fear, particularly due to Daniel’s health conditions, including dementia and diabetes, which require constant care.

The couple’s vehicle was discovered abandoned and unlocked at the bottom of Kessel Road, with the keys still inside. Adding to the mystery, their home was left unattended with lights and appliances still on, and Stephanie’s purse along with their cell phones were found inside. This has raised significant concerns among loved ones who say that the Menards would not typically leave their home without their car, especially without taking necessary personal items.

The Redlands Police Department has been leading the investigation, with support from the Riverside Sheriff’s Office and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office. Despite extensive search efforts, including the use of sniffer dogs and a helicopter, no significant leads have emerged.

The community’s anxiety has been heightened by a recent surge in local crimes, though police have not confirmed any connection between these incidents and the Menards’ disappearance. Carl Baker, a spokesman for the city of Redlands, stated, “We’re exploring all avenues,” but did not provide further details.

Friends and neighbors have expressed their deep concern and desperation for the couple’s safe return. Sandy Marinelli, a friend of the Menards, shared her distress, saying, “I just want them back. They don’t deserve this. They’re just good people.”

The situation has sparked an outpouring of support and prayers on social media, with many people sharing their thoughts and hopes for the Menards’ safe return. Alyson Kaparoff wrote, "I hope Dan and Stephanie Menard, along with their dog Cuddles, are found safe and soon. Shared." Sherry Mangel-Ferber added, “Hoping to read good news soon…will share.”

Other concerned individuals, like Molly Sexton, echoed the community’s fears, saying, “This is terrifying. I hope this is simply a misunderstanding and all three are found safe and sound.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of Stephanie, Daniel, or their dog Cuddles to contact the Moreno Valley Police Department at (951) 486-6700 or call 911 immediately.

As the search continues, the community remains hopeful that Stephanie, Daniel, and Cuddles will be found and safely reunited with their loved ones.
