Seaside, California – The community of Seaside is grieving the loss of Chimanbai "Chi" Patel, who passed away at the age of 37. Known for his bright smile and generous spirit, Chi left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.
Chi was celebrated for his love of life and his dedication to helping others. His friends and family remember him as someone who always made time to reach out, often leaving heartfelt and sometimes goofy messages that will now be cherished as precious memories.
Having spent the last eight years of his life dedicated to youth development and outdoor education, Chi had a grand vision for a program in his hometown of Seaside. He aimed to establish a facility that would serve underrepresented youth, using backpacking and therapeutic interventions to foster personal resilience and growth. His passion for this mission was evident to anyone who knew him, and his legacy will continue through the efforts of his family and friends to bring this vision to life.
A fundraiser has been organized by Renee Herrera and Jocelyn Hernandez to honor Chi’s memory, aiming to gather funds for a funeral, a celebration of life, and to support the program that Chi was so passionate about. As of now, the fundraiser has raised $1,115 from 11 donations, with contributions coming from supporters like Gabriel Arguelles, who made the top donation of $200.
Priscilla Rose, one of many who shared their condolences on Facebook, posted, "I love you Chiman! You’re making everyone smile in Heaven now."
Chi’s impact extended far beyond his immediate circle, and his loss is felt deeply by many. As the community of Seaside mourns, they are also determined to ensure that Chi’s dreams live on, continuing the work he began with the same love and dedication he showed throughout his life.
