Semmes, AL Tragedy – Juan Antonio Ganados Acuna Fatally Stabbed on Bermuda Drive; Suspect Pablo Barrios Maldonado Arrested

Semmes, AL – The small community of Semmes is in shock following the tragic death of 28-year-old Juan Antonio Ganados Acuna, who was fatally stabbed on August 25, 2024. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Bermuda Drive, where police responded to reports of a man lying in the roadway.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Acuna with a severe laceration to his neck. Despite immediate medical attention and transportation to USA Medical Center, Acuna was pronounced dead shortly after arrival due to the severity of his injuries.

Witnesses at the scene described seeing Acuna stumbling before collapsing in the road, prompting the emergency call. Their testimonies were crucial in quickly advancing the investigation.

Authorities swiftly identified Pablo Barrios Maldonado as the primary suspect in the case. Later that evening, Maldonado was apprehended by Mobile Police Department officers at the intersection of University and Moffat Road, taken into custody without incident. The arrest was made after a focused search based on the gathered evidence.

The motive behind the fatal stabbing remains unclear, as law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances leading to this violent act. The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit are collaborating with the Semmes Police Department to uncover the full story and ensure justice for Acuna.

The Semmes community is mourning the loss of Juan Antonio Ganados Acuna, with many residents expressing their sorrow and shock. On Facebook, Zavada Augustin commented, “That’s a shame!” while Sutrisno added, “So very sad.”
