Derry, Northern Ireland – The community of Derry is mourning the loss of two young men, Eoghan Dawson, 20, and his 16-year-old cousin, Kian Dawson Kirk, who tragically lost their lives in a car accident this past Saturday evening at Cross, Quigley’s Point.

Eoghan Dawson succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, just days after the accident claimed the life of his cousin, Kian, at the scene. Gary McDevitt, a close friend of Eoghan, posted a heartfelt message on Facebook, saying, "Can’t believe I’m writing this. Feels like a bad dream, boys. Wee Eoghan Dawson taken from us too soon, him and his wee cousin Kian. May yous rest in peace." He went on to describe Eoghan as "an absolute character, full of craic and didn’t have a care in the world," adding that Eoghan felt like a younger brother to him.

Other friends and community members also shared their thoughts. Danny Fox described Eoghan as a "beautiful human," while Glenda Cullen offered her condolences to Gary and the Dawson family, saying, "So sorry to hear this Gary – thinking on you and the boys’ families."
