Tragic Coosa County Crash Claims the Life of 16-Year-Old Brenlee Taylor Parker, Sylacauga Mourns

Sylacauga, Alabama – In a heartbreaking incident on Wednesday afternoon, August 21, 2024, 16-year-old Brenlee Taylor Parker lost her life in a fatal crash near Sylacauga, Alabama. The accident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. at the intersection of Coosa County 150 and U.S. 231, about five miles south of Sylacauga.

Brenlee, a student at B.B. Comer High School, was driving a 2021 Nissan Altima when her vehicle collided with a 2003 Freightliner tractor-trailer. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. The crash also involved a 17-year-old passenger in Parker’s vehicle and the truck driver, both of whom sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division is currently investigating the accident.

The community has been deeply affected by Brenlee’s untimely passing, and plans for her viewing and funeral have been announced. The viewing will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. at Curtis And Son Funeral Home, located at 1315 Talladega Hwy, Sylacauga, AL 35150. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Attendees are requested to wear pink in her memory, and close friends are encouraged to write a note to be placed in her casket. Out of respect, the family asks that no pictures be taken during the service, and that phones remain on silent.

Many have taken to social media to express their condolences and support for the Parker family during this difficult time. Abigail Parker, in a post, shared details about the upcoming services, expressing the deep sorrow felt by all who knew Brenlee. Diane Colvin offered prayers, saying, “Praying for everyone in Jesus’ name.” Cam Walker expressed their love, saying, “See you Sunday, I love youuuuu.”

Other heartfelt messages include Martha White Hall’s, who wrote, “Sending love and prayers,” and Sylvia Nagel Freeman, who shared, “Praying for all of the family at this difficult time. We love you guys.” Additional prayers and well-wishes were posted by Kathy Gilliland, Lisaann McCrawford, Kathy Eslimger, Kimberly Crimm, Timmy Mitchell, and Corey Jack Hardman, all showing their support for the grieving family.

This tragic loss has cast a shadow over the Sylacauga community, and as they prepare to lay Brenlee to rest, the outpouring of love and solidarity serves as a reminder of the impact she had on those around her.
