Cheshire, Connecticut – The community is reeling after the tragic death of Mya Teesdale, a 16-year-old student from Cheshire High School, who passed away this past week. It is believed that Mya died by suicide, leaving her family, friends, and classmates in deep mourning.

In response to the tragic news, Cheshire High School canceled all scheduled activities on August 22, 2024. The school administration has offered counseling services to support grieving students and staff. These services are available in the school library, providing a space for students to seek help and talk to adults during this difficult time.

A GoFundMe campaign, organized by Abigail Edwards, has been set up to help Mya’s family with funeral and memorial expenses. Contributions are being sought from the community to help ease the burden on Mya’s family.

On Facebook, Mya’s loved ones have shared heartfelt messages expressing their sorrow and support. Natalie Teesdale Cunningham wrote, “So clearly words cannot express the devastation of losing someone so young at 16… Mya will always be remembered as a shining light in our family.”
