Urgent Search Underway for 53-Year-Old Leif Albert Botkin Missing from Orem Treatment Center

Orem, Utah – Authorities are intensifying their search for 53-year-old Leif Albert Botkin, who went missing after walking away from an inpatient treatment center in Orem on Friday, August 23. Botkin, originally from Washington State, suffers from a severe brain injury that causes significant memory issues, making his disappearance particularly concerning.

Leif was last seen wearing a dark blue and grey flannel coat, a blue t-shirt, and grey workout pants. He left the facility without any phone or belongings, which has heightened concerns about his safety. His memory issues have led to instances of him getting lost within the treatment center, and now, with him wandering off, his family and local authorities fear he may be disoriented and unable to find his way back.

The Orem Police Department has issued a Silver Alert and is urging the public to keep an eye out for Leif, who may be confused and in need of help. Despite extensive search efforts involving local authorities and volunteers, there has been no trace of him since his disappearance.

Leif’s family, who describe him as a kind and gentle man, is devastated by his disappearance. They have launched social media campaigns and distributed flyers in the hope of finding him. The local community has rallied around the search efforts, with volunteers joining the search parties and offering support to the Botkin family.

Several concerned individuals have shared their thoughts and prayers on Facebook. Anita Jones commented, "Hoping he will be found soon and safe. Praying." Laurel Hair Conrad added, "Orem Police Department please keep us updated." Brenda Gonzalez mentioned, "There was a guy by my job who we gave food to. He was barefoot, I don’t know if it was him or if it was just a homeless guy. I think he was carrying a backpack." Ginger Jester expressed her concern, saying, "53 qualifies for a silver alert? Wow, I must be ancient at 59. I hope he is found though, brain injuries are scary."

As the days pass, the urgency to find Leif grows. His family remains hopeful for his safe return and continues to appeal to anyone with information to come forward. If you see Leif Albert Botkin or have any information about his whereabouts, please contact the Orem Police Department immediately.
